Jordan's MobileCom has recently signed an agreement with Ericsson to launch the latest worldwide-development in mobile broadband technology to its current GPRS customers, which is called EDGE: Enhanced Data Rates for Global Evolution.
EDGE is one step into 3G: It enhances the speed and performance of wireless data connectivity and data transmission up-to 240 kilobits per second, improving the customer's usage experience in browsing the Internet, receiving and sending data with up to 5 times the speed of the current GPRS services.
In addition, EDGE allows corporate and individual customers to smoothly download large files of multimedia and rich content such as music and video clips, MP3s, live TV broadcasting, listen to internet-radio stations, Internet browsing, e-mail and remote access, presentations, projects, and the like.
Several terminals are already available in the market and many more will be launched in the coming months.
