ALBAWABA - Jordan announced the signing of two agreements with Japan, providing a facilitated $100 million development loan.

The local television quoted the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ayman Safadi, on Sunday, stating that he also discussed cooperation in the fields of energy and water with his Japanese counterpart, Yoshiyama Hayashi, who was visiting.

Safadi emphasized that Jordan will continue to work with the international community to find a political solution to the Syrian crisis.

The Jordanian Foreign Minister stressed that "the danger is escalating due to the declining support for refugees."

On the other hand, Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshiyama Hayashi stated, "Japan will continue to support Jordan in its economic and financial reforms and future modernization efforts," during joint remarks with his Jordanian counterpart Ayman Safadi at the start of his visit to the Kingdom.

Japan is one of Jordan's major donors, having contributed with loans, aid, and technical support of over four billion dollars over the past few decades.

Jordan's King Abdullah visited Tokyo in April, where he discussed a new economic aid package and Japan's support in financing a large desalination plant on the Red Sea to address Jordan's chronic water shortage crisis.

Hayashi will head to Egypt tomorrow, Monday, and from there to Saudi Arabia.
