An electric fan manufacturing facility will soon open in Egypt, in cooperation with a Chinese manufacturer. The factory’s first phase of construction is estimated to cost 50 million Egyptian pounds ($11.7 million), reported Al-Gumhuria . The plant, which is expected to start production in December 2002, is the first of its kind in Egypt.
The new factory hopes to export its products to markets throughout the Middle East region, specifically targeting retail markets in the Palestinian Authority, Jordan, Iraq and Saudi Arabia.
The company expects electrical fan sales in Egypt to rise to 75 million Egyptian pounds ($17.5 million), once the first Egyptian-made fan engine is introduced to local markets. In 1992, 65 percent of Egyptian households possessed electric fans. — (menareport.com)
