Beirut Governor Ziad Chebib Wednesday ordered the closure of unlicensed aesthetic centers in the city.
In a statement, Chebib said all illegitimate aesthetic centers in Beirut would be shut down until they obtain legal status.
The governor tasked Beirut police with enforcing the closures.
The illegal aesthetic centers in Beirut include some big names like, Jane Nassar, Seif Beauty clinic, G.Spa and Dermopro, according to a list obtained by The Daily Star.
Other flagged centers include Be Beauty, Beauty Tech, Beauty Lounge, Clinic Form, Cosmo Soft Clinic, Brazillian Center and Mary’s Center.
A source at the Beirut Municipality told The Daily Star that the police will be hunting down and shutting clinics discovered to be operating without licenses.
Health Minister Wael Abu Faour had issued a decision to regulate cosmetic intervention, which was apparently ignored.
Abu Faour has demanded that all beauty clinics register with the Health Ministry and hire dermatologists or plastic surgeons as full-time, on-site physicians to provide patient assessment, diagnosis and treatment.
Chebib said the decision came in the wake of an inspection that determined several beauty centers were operating illegally.
