ALBAWABA - Iran's technology fair has gone beyond the norm and sparked controversy after featuring humans disguised as robots rather than showcasing locally developed robots and advanced bots.
A video went viral on social media at the 2025 Kish Inox Tech Expo, which was supposed to showcase "advanced humanoid robots," but instead it involved human performers wearing binary-pattern bodysuits and goggles to look like robots.
The clip caused wide mockery online, with people questioning how they thought they could fool people at the tech fair and making two people move as if they were robots while delivering scripted lines.

A person shared the clip and wrote, "It was revealed that the domestically produced 'robots' displayed at Iran's technology fair were nothing more than humans dressed in digital costumes. This situation instantly turned the regime's planned technological showcase into a laughingstock on social media."
Another mockingly said, "Scientists and artificial intelligence froze in shock."
"It turned out that the 'so-called domestic robots' exhibited at Iran's technology fair were people wearing digital costumes," an X account commented.
The tech exhibit in Iran showed two people: a man and a woman, being introduced as robotic figures. But in real life, they are humans.
Media outlets reported that the two performers described themselves as "a collection of data that work together in a shared data code," claiming they were capable of tasks associated with Artificial Intelligence (AI).
