Gulf Air's inaugural flight to Bangalore touched down in India Tuesday, October 28, 2003. The commencement of flights follows a recently signed commercial agreement between Gulf Air and Indian Airlines.

Operated under a code sharing arrangement with the Indian carrier, flights are scheduled to depart Bahrain every Monday and Thursday. The airline has also announced the introduction of twice weekly flights to Kolkata with effect from November 25.

The addition of Bangalore to the Gulf Air schedule brings the number of destinations served by the airline in India to six. Gulf Air already operates daily flights to Mumbai, Delhi, Kochi, Madras and Trivandrum.

Gulf Air was founded in 1950. Today, it is owned by the governments of Bahrain, Oman and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The airline's network stretches from Europe to Asia and covers 45 cities in 33 countries. — (menareport.com)
