Gulf importers can now utilise the new temperature-controlled LCL (Less than Full Container Load) ocean service, jointly introduced by GAC Logistics and Natural Ltd of Switzerland, when transporting chilled cargo from Europe to Dubai.
Developed specially for importers who need reliable and cost efficient transport to bring in their perishable food products, this service involves the setting up of two key consolidation hubs in Port Rotterdam and Jebel Ali in Dubai. Chilled products such as cheese, butter, juice concentrates, sausages or pharmaceuticals originating from all over Europe are consolidated in Port Rotterdam, and then shipped directly to Jebel Ali for domestic consumption or re-distribution to the region.
With fixed monthly consolidation and sailing schedule from Port Rotterdam to Jebel Ali, importers no longer need to order a full container load. The part-container load option not only offers more flexibility but also more inventory control and immediate cost savings, says Mr Dag Bore, General Manager, GAC Dubai, Logistics services.
Temperature-controlled supply chain to safeguard integrity
Besides keeping to temperatures between 4 to 18 degrees Celsius during shipment, GAC Dubai’s transportation, handling and storage capabilities also ensure absolute temperature integrity throughout the supply chain – especially paramount for keeping chilled products safe and fresh.
