ALBAWABA - France and Europol raided Musk's X office in Paris due to an ongoing investigation launched over the platform's controversial AI companion, Grok.

This comes after the social media platform was accused of allegedly boosting far-right extremist content and allowing its users to generate explicit deepfake images of women and children. Additionally, the AI bot was also accused of denying the holocaust.

According to DW, both Elon Musk and former CEO Linda Yaccarino were summoned for "voluntary interviews" on April 20. X is yet to respond to the situation at hand, but the platform recently described the investigation as an attack on free speech.

Ofcom, the UK's independent media regulator, also previously launched an investigation into Musk's X in January.

They took to the same platform and wrote, "We've opened a formal investigation into X under the Online Safety Act, to determine whether it has complied with its duties to protect people in the UK from illegal content."

Paris public prosecutor Laure Beccuau said, "At this stage, the conduct of the investigation is based on a constructive approach, with the aim of ultimately ensuring that the X platform complies with French law, as it operates on the national territory."

The prosecutor's office said that the investigation into X started in January 2025 when the platform sparked outrage for allowing its users to generate sexual images of children and women, as reported by the BBC.
