ALBAWABA - Ford Motor Company, the American multinational automobile manufacturer, announced the cut of nearly 4,000 jobs across Europe due to recent financial losses.
Ford eliminate about 4,000 jobs in Europe
The company stated that the job cuts in Europe will primarily impact Germany and the UK, as the entire continent faces challenges in its auto industry.
Lisa Brankin, managing director of Ford of Britain and Ireland, said: “Making this announcement isn’t something that anybody wants to do, and I appreciate it will have a very significant impact on our employees. It’s not the news anyone wants to hear at any time. So our aim is to try to deliver this through voluntary redundancy.”
According to Agence France-Presse (AFP), the company plans to cut 2,900 jobs in Germany, 800 in the UK, and around 300 in Western Europe, all by the end of 2027.

Furthermore, Ford said it is currently working on adjusting its production of the Explorer and Capri models in an effort to reduce working hours at its Cologne plant in Germany, with the changes expected to take effect by the first quarter of 2025.
Europe’s car industry crisis
It is worth noting that Europe has been struggling with a crisis in its car industry, driven by high manufacturing costs, the rise in popularity of electric vehicles, and increasing competition from the Chinese market.
Additionally, in 2023, Ford announced the elimination of 3,800 jobs in Europe, with 2,300 cuts in Germany and 1,300 in the UK.
