Dubai will host a two-day economic meeting between the European Union and Gulf countries next month to map out trade strategy and improve economic ties, organizers said.

One thousand trade and economy officials, including ministers, will attend the October 8-9 gathering to discuss ways of strengthening trade and establishing a strategic relationship between nations of the Gulf Cooperation Council and the countries of the European Union.

The Euro and tariffs on aluminum and carbon will be main topics at the meeting, said Sulieman Mazrougi, an organizer of the meeting.

"The meeting will give the private sector a chance to discuss the difficulties they face doing trade with the European Union," Mazrougi said.

Banking officials will discuss the future of the Euro in Middle Eastern and south Asian markets band how best to increase market dealings with the Euro.

Some Gulf countries like Saudi Arabia are using the Euro in all financial transactions with the European Union. –(Albawaba-MEBG)
