Engineered Support Systems’ wholly-owned subsidiary Technical and Management Services Corporation (TAMSCO) has been awarded a $26.1 million task order by the Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) under its new Rapid Response (R(2)) contract.

The task order calls for TAMSCO to provide a variety of services at various locations throughout the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia including the continued provision of support to the print plant operation at Riyadh; the continued operation of an In-Kingdom forward supply/repair and return point at Dhahran for various RSAF Foreign Military Sales (FMS) weapons systems; and, supplying program support personnel.

These types of integrated logistical services for aircraft parts, personnel, procurement, maintenance, documentation and specialized management services to the United States Air Force and the RSAF have been previously provided by TAMSCO under an existing contract throughout the past five years, according to Jerry Daniels, Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Engineered Support Systems.

TAMSCO, licensed to conduct business within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, will use its existing In-Kingdom, Saudi National and Third Country National personnel to staff these positions and will utilize the support services of vendors previously approved by the RSAF. Importantly, the technical and educational standings of TAMSCO personnel, Saudi National and Third Country Nationals working under the existing contract have already been certified by the Saudi Arabia Ministry of Labor.

More specifically, for its print plant operation TAMSCO's services will include technical data production printing, binding and distributing documents to meet the Print on Demand (POD) requirements to support the RSAF. TAMSCO will also maintain the POD system with hardware and software enhancements and will develop the required graphical user interface enhancements that allow TAMSCO to pro-actively provide system upgrades as well as other helpful functions.

In conjunction with its task to support the In-Kingdom forward supply, repair and return (R&R) point, TAMSCO will identify In-Kingdom vendors to provide parts to reduce the backlog of repairable assets as well as identify In-Kingdom sources with capability and qualifications to complete repairs. TAMSCO will qualify capable vendors, provide stock, store and issue functions, perform inventories and provide meeting support to the RSAF Chief of Logistics and Supply. R&R cases managed by TAMSCO involve aircraft components, munitions, advanced systems and logistical support.

The eight-year R(2) contract, with an estimated ceiling of $2.9 billion, is a flexible contract vehicle to provide federal government support for new and existing equipment and weapons platforms. The current task order for $26.1 million represents the most significant piece of business received by TAMSCO under the contract subsequent to its being named a contractor under the Rapid Response contract by the US Army in January of this year. Work under the current task order commences immediately and runs through May of 2004, with follow-on orders anticipated.
