ALBAWABA - One of the most well-known tech entrepreneurs, Elon Musk, has sued OpenAI, the company behind the ChatGPT AI bot.
Musk made his name with Tesla and SpaceX. Even though Musk and OpenAI broke up, he stayed on as an early board member. He now says that the company has lost sight of its original goal and put making money ahead of helping people.
The lawsuit, which was filed in the San Francisco Superior Court, says that OpenAI's recent work with tech giant Microsoft makes its commitment to open-source AGI less secure. Musk says that this shift in focus from serving the common good to serving private interests goes against what OpenAI was meant to do in the first place.
In his comments on the subject, Elon Musk said that he didn't want OpenAI to become what he called a Microsoft subsidiary. He says that the new people in charge of the company care more about making money for Microsoft than doing good for people.
Musk is suing OpenAI for breach of contract, unfair trade tactics, and breach of fiduciary duty, among other things. A court order is what he is asking for to stop OpenAI, its management, and Microsoft from getting money off of their AI technology.
Since it was founded with the goal of making AI that helps people, OpenAI has recently been criticized and investigated for the decisions it has made about its strategy. No matter what happens with Elon Musk's case against the group, it could have huge effects on the ethics and future of developing AI.
