Dubai Municipality will shortly release a public tender for 250 new outdoor 3X5 signage positions along the emirate's highways, Mohammed Al-Noori, head of the municipality’s advertising section, disclosed yesterday. Al-Noori said demand for signage throughout Dubai grew by 30 percent last year and the Municipality is anticipating further growth in 2002.

"We are currently reviewing Law No.30, which was first implemented in 1986, and which regulates the signage industry, to cover new industry advances and technologies," said Al-Noori. "We are also in the final stages of formulating the Emirates Sign Association, which will be a Federal body made up of industry leaders. We shall shortly be seeking ministerial approval for the body."

Al-Noori was speaking at the Middle East Sign & Graphic Imaging show, which runs at the Dubai World Trade Center (DWTC) until Thursday night. The show is organized by International Expo-Consults (IEC). — (menareport.com)
