Dubai Duty Free closed the month of October with sales of 132 million Emirati dirhams ($37 million), which represents a 21 percent increase over the same period last year.
Two daily sales records were set and surpassed in the month and on October 24, the new daily record was declared when sales reached Dh 5.8 million. On that day, the operation handled over 33,751 transactions.
“For most of this year, our sales figures have been running at about 15 percent above last year,” said Managing Director of Dubai Duty Free, Colm McLoughlin. “We passed the one billion dirhams on October 17 and expect to finish the year with sales of Dh 1.25 billion.”
Many categories showed significant increases across the board, including perfumes sales, which totaled Dh 16 million for the month, representing an impressive 25 percent increase over the same period last year. Similarly, electronics rose by 24 percent and gold by 14 percent. — (menareport.com)
