The declared on-site order book for Dubai 2003 – the eighth international aerospace exhibition, which runs at the Airport Expo Dubai until Thursday, has topped $3.5 billion.
In a flurry of announcements over the first three days of the show Emirates, Bombardier, Qatar Airways, Gulfstream Aerospace and Rapiscan racked up a combined order book topping $3.5 billion for a range of purchases including engines, passenger aircraft, business jets and cargo inspections systems including conventional X-Ray and explosive detection systems.
And the tally is set to rise further as Bahrain Executive Air Services (BEXAIR) prepares to announce tomorrow its purchase choice for an additional long-range aircraft. BEXAIR provides executive aircraft charter services throughout the Middle East to international destinations.
Apart from Qatar Airways' major Airbus purchase announcement, Gulfstream Aerospace announced a firm order from Saudi Arabia's National Air services for three large-cabin, mid-range Gulfstream G300 aircraft.
Also Kuwait's International Vehicle & Container Inspection Services Company (IVACIS) disclosed the purchase of advanced technology worth in excess of four million dollars to support its program to provide inspections service and technology to support customs, border and security agencies.
Dubai 2003 is organized by F&E in conjunction with the Department of Civil Aviation, Government of Dubai and in collaboration with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Armed Forces. — (menareport.com)
