Bahrain will host a two-day Islamic banking conference starting October 28, at the Holiday Inn, in the Bahrain conference center. Over 300 delegates from 25 countries are expected to attend the event.
The conference will be sponsored by the Bahrain Monetary Agency, coordinated by Bahrain-based Middle East Global Advisors (Mega), and will carry the theme of Global Challenges and Opportunity: IT and Management.
The event aims at gathering financial specialists from around the world to discuss opportunities facing the Islamic banking industry in the 21st century.
Among the numerous Issues on the agenda is IT trends and solutions for Islamic banking and financial institutions, such as e-commerce and the Internet. Other issues include performance analysis, monetary policies, capital markets, Sharia perspectives, and Takaful and Islamic indexes.
Additionally, the conference will touch upon issues such as management trends and strategy, innovations, mergers and acquisitions, trade liberalization, and corporate growth and development in today's competitive financial world.
Synergies between Islamic and conventional banks, as well as financial engineering, are issues that have recently drawn much attention among financial specialists, and will also be emphasized.
The leading speaker in the conference will be Bahrain’s finance and national economy minister, Abdulla Saif. Other speakers will include Pakistani finance, economic affairs and Ssatistics minister, Shaukat Aziz, BMA governor Shaikh Abdulla bin Khalifa Al-Khalifa and Central Bank of Malaysia governor, Dr Zeti Akhtar Aziz, reported the Gulf Daily News.
Other distinguished speakers are Professor Samuel Hayes from the Harvard Business School, Manual Conthe and Wafik Grais from the World Bank, and Ghiath Shabsigh from the International Monetary Fund. —(Albawaba-MEBG)
