ALBAWABA - Doctors at King's College London have developed an AI-powered stethoscope capable of detecting three heart conditions in just 15 seconds.

Today, a high-tech version of the stethoscope, equipped with artificial intelligence, is emerging, enabling near-instant diagnosis of heart failure, heart valve defects, and arrhythmias. Early diagnosis of these conditions is crucial, allowing doctors to begin treatment before conditions become life-threatening.

Approximately 12,000 patients and 200 internists in Britain participated in the clinical trials of this innovation, most of whom were patients suffering from shortness of breath or fatigue. The results of the study were presented at the annual congress of the European Society of Cardiology in Madrid.

The device, no larger than a playing card, can be placed on the patient's chest to record an electrocardiogram, while a microphone picks up heart sounds. The data is transmitted directly to the cloud, allowing a diagnosis to be delivered to the doctor's smartphone within seconds.

Does the device give correct results?

Despite the device's accuracy, its results can sometimes include false positives. Therefore, researchers recommend its use only with patients who exhibit symptoms of potential heart problems, warning against its indiscriminate use by healthy individuals.
