Acer, one of the world’s top five branded PC vendors, Monday announced that September was the most successful month in the company’s history, with consolidated revenues of US$637.49 million, representing a growth of 41.5 per cent since the same period last year. Acer’s Middle East operation, Acer Computer (M.E.) Ltd., which also achieved its highest revenues for September, is credited with contributing to the success.
Continued growth and demand for IT products in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and China have been attributed to the record results. In each region Acer has outperformed expectations, and also reached historical monthly highs.
“Over the last nine months we have been working hard to drive the business forward and consolidate our position in the region.” said Krishna Murthy, general manager, Acer Computer (M.E.) Ltd.
“Innovative new product launches such as the Folio designed range of notebooks, and the introduction of the Ferrari 3200, the first 64-bit notebook PC available in the Middle East, have helped us achieve this record result.”
Acer is now the number one vendor of notebook PCs in Saudi Arabia, and is close to taking the number one position in the UAE. Third quarter figures from international analysts IDC, show the company has strengthened its hold in these two key regional markets, as well as making significant gains in other territories.
Senior executives at Acer’s Middle East headquarters in Dubai are also predicting a strong end to 2004, traditionally the year’s most active sales period. The company recorded strong sales during GITEX, the Middle East’s premier IT exhibition, and further gains in the education, government and corporate sectors are expected.
“Acer is well placed to achieve even higher growth rates as the year draws to a close,” said Murthy. “We have already exceeded our internal projections, and the fourth quarter in the IT industry is a boom period.” (menareport.com)
