(AFP, Bangalore) – Infosys Technologies Ltd, an Indian IT solutions provider, said Thursday the Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) would use its software to provide Internet banking services in India.
The bank will be using Infosys' BankAway product and the Indian software giant will also provide security architecture design and consulting services.
The government of Abu Dhabi holds 64 percent of the paid-up capital in ADCB and prominent UAE institutions and nationals hold the rest.
The bank, one of the largest national banks in the United Arab Emirates, has over 35 branches.
"Infosys is focusing strongly in the area of e-commerce and has been developing world-class solutions to meet the needs of customers in this new age," said Merwin Fernandes, associate vice-president at the Banking Business Unit of Infosys.
"BankAway is one of the few e-commerce and Internet banking solutions in the world that offers the whole gamut of banking services over the Internet and mobile devices," Fernandes said.
Infosys, which provides a range of services including IT consulting, architecture and application development, reported a 117 percent rise in net profit to 2.93 billion rupees ($67 million) for the year to March.
