The National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD), the Number One Bank in the UAE, hosted the graduation ceremony of scores of its staff in the internationally-acclaimed ILM Certificate in Leadership programme.

The Leadership programme, which is delivered over a year, is offered by Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM) at the state-of-the-art NBAD Academy. The Certificate, earned in multiple steps, aims to develop an understanding and application of leadership skills.

The ceremony graduated 46 NBAD managers, including 13 UAE nationals, from across the Bank whose role range from medium to top managers.

“I congratulate the graduates whose hard word is the result of this success; NBAD is proud of your achievements,” said Michael H. Tomalin, the Group Chief Executive of NBAD who made the opening remarks. “I would also like to take this opportunity to thank our partners, Biz-ability and ILM, in this great programme.”

Mr. Tomalin continued: “NBAD’s considerable investment in training of its employees in this prestigious programme is a direct result of the Bank’s strong learning culture and our commitment to be a centre of excellence in the region dedicated to creating tomorrow’s leaders. Today’s graduation of 46 of our managers also proves NBAD Academy’s essential role in helping NBAD achieve this goal and its vision to be recognised as the World’s Best Arab Bank.”

NBAD’s partner Biz-ability said it tailored the Leadership programme to deliver optimum results for NBAD and the graduation ceremony reaffirms how it drives great results for both participants and businesses. The programme makes the learning process a journey whereby attendees undertake a series of focused workshops supplemented by work-based assessments. Before progressing through the course, participants are evaluated on their applied learning capabilities. Making the Leadership Programme relevant to individuals’ work situations improves the level of knowledge retention.

The Bank launched the NBAD academy nearly two years ago as a wholly dedicated learning and training facility. The Academy delivers a range of programmes aligned to business requirements in partnership with ILM and other leading, internationally-recognised learning institutions.

“Building tomorrow’s leaders is one of NBAD core objectives, which stems from our dedication to provide our customers with exceptional service by creating products and delivering services of enduring value to help them grow,” said Ehab Anis Hassan, the Group Chief Human Resources Officer. “Moreover, NBAD considers Abu Dhabi the core part of its DNA. This philosophy drives our learning culture and dedication to improve the skills of UAE’s human capital.”

Mr. Hassan concluded: “It is also this commitment to the learning culture that has made the National Bank of Abu Dhabi the employer of choice in the country for UAE nationals and expatriates.”
