Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein of Jordan, who is challenging incumbent Joseph Blatter for the FIFA presidency, speaks of a sad day for football after the arrest of six officials over corruption allegations.

"Today is a sad day for football," he said in a statement. "Clearly this is a developing story, the details of which are still emerging. It would not be appropriate to comment further at this time."

Swiss police arrested six football officials in a Zurich hotel in a dawn raid for extradition to the United States where they are to face charges on corruption over two decades.
