ALBAWABA -  During the past few hours, dozens of videos emerged from Mexico showing cartel members crashing, controling and destroying everything in several cities in revenge for the killing of a cartel leader called "El Mencho".

The Mexican military operation occured on Sunday in the western state of Jalisco. It was preceded by massive roadblocks involving burning vehicles – a common tactic employed by cartels to impede military movements.

According to local media, soccer matches were postponed in Mexico following the death of cartel leader ‘El Mencho’ near the World Cup host. The matches postponed were Queretaro vs. Juarez FC in the men's tournament and Chivas vs. America in the women’s league.

In addition, an airport in Guadalajara has been completely overrun after a cartel group controlled it, as seen in videos posted online showed passengers and workers rushing to leave after members of the gang crashed it.

Who is El Mencho?

Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, known as "El Mencho", is the most wanted man in Mexico. He is the leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), BBC reported.

He travelled as an undocumented immigrant in the 1980s. El Mencho was known for cultivating the marijuana fields, and he was arrested several times, as he dug deeper into narcotics crime in California.

He was sentenced to several years in prison, as well, before being deported back to Mexico when he was 30 years old. First, he worked for the Milenio Cartel, based in his native Michoacán, the BBC reported, then he became a cruel boss.

According to the British newspaper, El Mencho's killing is considered a victory in both Mexico and the U.S., which confirmed providing intelligence support to the Mexican government in order to kill the cartel leader.
