ALBAWABA - Despite videos capturing the suspected drone attack on a Sumud Flotilla, Tunisian authorities released a statement denying the incident, as reported by the BBC.

Global Sumud Flotilla recently announced on social media that one of its ships was hit in what appears to be a drone attack. The vessel, flying a Portuguese flag, carried pro-Palestinian activists, including Greta Thunberg, on a mission to deliver aid to Gaza by breaking Israel's siege.

The ship was anchored near Tunisia's Sidi Bou Said port when the attack occurred. A Tunisian National Guard spokesperson told AFP that "no drone" had been detected. However, he revealed that the investigation is still ongoing.

He added that in the initial reports, the explosion occurred from inside the vessel, despite videos capturing an object hitting it from above.

Videos shared on social media claimed that an incendiary device caused the ship to catch fire. It's important to note that the crew on board extinguished the fire, and no injuries were reported.

Israeli authorities are reportedly planning to detain Swedish activist Greta Thunberg amid her departure to Gaza from Barcelona under the Global Sumud Flotilla.

According to The Telegraph, Israel’s far-right national security minister, Itamar Ben-Gvir, is planning to detain Greta Thunberg in harsh "terrorist-level" conditions inside Ktzi’ot and Damon detention centres for females.

This marks Thunberg's second sailing towards Gaza. The Swedish activist has been consistently vocal about the ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza since Oct. 7, 2023, with a series of posts on social media and attending pro-Palestine protests.

She first set sail to the Strip on board the "Madleen" ship before she was detained by Israeli authorities alongside other fellow activists and sent back to her home country.

The ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza has resulted in the killing of at least 64,500 Palestinians and has left more than 164,000 injuries.
