Trump: Countries are "kissing my a**" for new trade deals

ALBAWABA - Amid implementing tariffs across the globe, US President Donald Trump is once again the talk of social media when clips of his speech at the NRCC dinner went viral. 

The US President claimed that despite the tariff tensions, countries are "dying" to make deals with him while emphasizing his commitment to representing the American working and middle class. 

Trump said during his speech, "Don't let some of these politicians...let me tell you. These countries are calling me, kissing my a**, they are dying to make a [trade] deal..." He further quoted the politicians, "Please, please, sir, let me make a deal. I'll do anything, sir."

He also added on Truth Social that he's proud to represent American workers, claiming he stands up for Main Street, not Wall Street. A US president who "protects the middle class, not the political class, who defends America, not trade cheaters."

The speech which took place at the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) in Washington, DC, on April 8, 2025, sparked widespread debate on social media, with some praising Trump on his "reassuring words" while others expressed their concern about the economic state of the country due to recent tariff tensions.

A social media user wrote on Musk's X (formerly known as Twitter), "Ngl this is not a good look, America will only get so far bullying other nations." 

Another added, "Bro running this like the Italian mafia. Don Gotti."
