ALBAWABA - Former Crown Prince of Iran, Reza Pahlavi, gained much attention during his visit to Germany over the royal treatment he received.
Reza Pahlavi was invited to be a guest on TF1 news broadcast on Monday to talk about the situation in Iran amid the chaos that erupted in early January. The invitation of the exiled crown prince came after he emerged as a leader of the opposition against the Islamic regime.
TF1 wrote on its website, "Reza Pahlavi, the son of the last Shah of Iran, is the special guest on TF1's 8 PM news program this Monday."
Reza Pahlavi gets diplomatic treatment in Germany:
What triggered much attention on social media was the treatment Reza Pahlavi received during his trip to Germany. He flew from the U.S. to Germany to attend the Munich Security Conference 2026.
Upon arrival, the car of Pahlavi was surrounded by several police vehicles for security purposes to ensure his safety. Many people found it weird to give him this special treatment, considering that he doesn't hold any diplomatic position.
In addition, the Crown Prince spoke in front of about 250,000 people who gathered in Munich against the Iranian government on Saturday, following the deadly crackdown against protests in January, during which at least 7,005 people were killed, as reported by the U.S.-based Human Rights Activists News Agency.
People were heard chanting "Pahlavi for Iran," and "democracy for Iran" as drums and cymbals sounded.
On the other hand, the Iranian government said on Jan. 21 that the death toll in the protests reached 3,117.
