ALBAWABA - US Senator Rick Scott recently took to social media with a video about locking the clock in the country but what seemed beneficial to citizens, quickly sparked outrage after social media users noticed the Israeli flag displayed while the American flag was absent.
Scott captioned the video, "Every day, I hear from Americans who are sick and tired of changing their clocks back and forth. It’s time to pass my Sunshine Protection Act and lock the clock!"
The Florida senator assured US citizens that he's working on locking the clock and said that US President Donald Trump also agrees with the "Sunshine Protection Act" initiative.
Rick Scott sparks outrage for displaying Israeli flag over US flag
While what seemed like a positive initiative at first to prevent yearly confusion across the country, several social media users noticed the Israeli flag behind Rick Scott and expressed concern about whether "America is really first."
One social media user on Musk's X (formerly known as Twitter) wrote, "Where is his American flag? We noticed."
Another added, "Does anyone else find it a little strange that an American politician has the flag of a foreign nation so prominently displayed in his office and not an American flag in sight…"
Several others are calling US Senator Rick Scott a "traitor" since he "puts America last."
According to the Pew Research Center, countries like Azerbaijan, Armenia, Iran, Iceland, Jordan, Namibia, Russia, Samoa, Syria, Turkey, Uruguay and many more have all locked their time zones. While the practice still remains common across Europe and the US, Florida senator Rick Scott aims to change that.
