ALBAWABA - British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has topped discussions on social media after he experienced a slip of the tongue while talking about the war in the Gaza Strip.

A video of Keir Starmer has circulated all over the news and social media platforms after he talked about a ceasefire and the return of the hostages from Gaza but instead, he said: "Immediate ceasefire in Gaza, the return of the sausages - then he corrected himself- hostages."

The slip-up happened during the British prime minister's meeitng with his party. Starmer was praising his "decisive government” for preparing to face the future. Then he urged for peace in the Middle East and the return of Israeli hostages taken during Hamas’ Al-Aqsa Flood operation on Oct. 7, 2023.

Keir Starmer's slip has caused a wave of mockery online where a person wrote: "Of course HAMAS will return the sausages, as Muslims they don't eat pork products."

Another X user commented on the clip: "Are they really fighting over sausages?". A person mockingly added: "Return of the sausages and 2 steak solutions."

It is worth noting that the party conference, the PM held, was before his expected trip to New York City, US to attend the UN General Assembly. Keir Starmer discussed the message he will be carrying to the meeting on Tuesday.

The UK prime minister stated: "I call again for restraint and de-escalation at the border between Lebanon and Israel. I call again for all parties to step back from the brink. I call again for all parties to step back from the brink."
