ALBAWABA - A recently conducted poll by ABC News showcased that almost 57% of Americans are discontent with Elon Musk's role in the US government, making it a majority in the country. The poll in question was also conducted by several other American outlets, including the Washington Post and Ipsos.

The poll asked participants about Musk's role in the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), a new temporary organization launched by US President Donald Trump and led by the Tesla billionaire to end the "tyranny of the bureaucracy" and save taxpayers money.

In contrast, 35% of Americans said they approve of Musk and DOGE's performance in the US since Trump took office in January 2025, after securing a win against former Vice President Kamala Harris.

Another poll also showcased the people's discontent with US President Donald Trump. 56% said that they disapprove of how Trump has "gone too far" on federal cuts, as reported by ABC News.

According to several reports, around 280,000 federal employees have been reportedly laid off from their posts to cut costs and offer balance, sparking nationwide outrage.

Musk recently revealed that the ongoing backlash was getting to him and that he wants to step away from DOGE and focus on his business interests. This comes after he claimed that DOGE's "major work" has already been established.

While he's not fully stepping away, the billionaire said he will leave "a day or two per week to government matters."
