ALBAWABA - Professor Ilan Pappe, an Israeli historian, recently voiced serious concerns to the Islamic Human Rights Commission (IHRC) on Israel's continuous military attacks on Gaza.

Pappe described these events as perhaps "the darkest moment" for the Palestinian people and issued a warning that they might represent a turning point in Palestinian history. He underlined that history might remember that the current events mark the beginning of the Zionist project's demise.

Speaking on the circumstances, Pappe emphasized how brutal and vicious these endeavors may become, especially when they encounter existential issues. He emphasized that the current developments might portend a serious blow to the Zionist cause.

Pappe compared the current situation to the night before the dawn of change, acknowledging that some may consider it to be particularly dire for Palestinians.

The historian noted that the continuous conflict has severely damaged Israel's fundamental moral, economic, and military foundations, which allow for the persecution of Palestinians. He projected that Israel's stability would be impacted by this interruption for some time to come.

Pappe also brought attention to the changing views of Jewish communities around the world and among governments in the Global South. He asserted that the possibility of a stronger and more successful international coalition in favor of Palestinian rights has increased.

In addition, Pappe chastised Israeli society for its unwillingness to take constructive criticism from outside and for not prioritising the provision of humane living circumstances for Palestinians—a view that has been held long before October 7, 2023.
