ALBAWABA - International assistant referee Muhammad Khattab was killed in an Israeli airstrike in the Gaza Strip, Quds News Network reported on Wednesday.
According to Palestinian media, the International assistant referee was killed along with his entire family last night in Deir al Balah.
Quds News Network posted on X (formerly Twitter): "Israeli strikes murdered the international assistant referee Muhammad Khattab along with his entire family last night."
Social Media influencer Adham Abu Selmiya wrote on his X account: "The Palestinian international referee Muhammad Khattab was martyred after his family’s home in Deir al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip was targeted, in a new massacre committed by the occupation. Khattab is one of the referees accredited by the Asian and International Football Confederations, and he has participated in managing a number of Asian and Arab championships since his accreditation in 2020."
Israel's airstrikes in Gaza have killed at least 29,195 people, according to the latest data shared by the health ministry in the strip.
Nonetheless, more than 69,170 other Palestinians were injured in the non-stopping attacks by Israel since Oct. 7, 2023.
Al-Aqsa Flood operation against Israel
Hamas military group announced on Oct. 7 a military operation called "Al-Aqsa Flood" against Israel which is the biggest offensive in decades.
Palestinian fighters “infiltrated” Israel from the Gaza Strip, captured military bases and took hostages as photos and videos went viral online showing Hamas fighters on vehicles inside Israel and others paragliding into occupation territory.
In response, Israeli armed forces announced targeting Hamas positions inside the Gaza Strip killing dozens of thousands.
