ALBAWABA - A six-story residential structure fell in Cairo's Al-Waili area today (Tuesday), killing eight people and injuring three more, according to the Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population.
Nine ambulances were sent to the location to assist with rescue efforts, according to Ministry of Health spokeswoman Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar. Rescue crews are still working to clear the debris and look for any more survivors or casualties, while the injured have been sent to Al-Demerdash Hospital for treatment.
"As we await the completion of debris removal and additional search operations, ambulances are still at the site," Abdel Ghaffar said. He underlined that the injured are receiving immediate medical attention.
Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, is keeping a careful eye on the situation and directing the delivery of emergency medical care to individuals impacted.
Investigations into the horrific event are still ongoing, and authorities have not yet identified the cause of the fall.
