ALBAWABA - The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) recently came under fire among pro-Palestine social media users due to its coverage of 'The Voice of Hind Rajab.'
The headline titled "Film about Gaza child's killing gets record ovation at Venice" didn't include Hind Rajab's name and disclose who killed her, which sparked anger from pro-Palestine activists.
American journalist Assal Rad wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter), "Fixed it for you @BBCWorld," following an edited screenshot of the headline."
Rad changed the headline in question to, "Film about Israel killing 6-year-old Hind Rajab gets record ovation at Venice."
BBC under fire for 'The Voice of Hind Rajab' headline
Another fellow pro-Palestine activist responded to Rad and wrote, "Reducing Hind Rajab to a 'Gazan child', what the headline does is erase her identity and try to say the people of Gaza are unfortunate victims of collateral damage when this was a sadistic murder of 9 members of a family."
Despite the backlash, the BBC still hasn't changed the headline or addressed the issue at hand.
It's important to note that The Voice of Hind Rajab made history after receiving a 23-minute standing ovation at the 2025 Venice Film Festival.
Written and directed by Kaouther Ben Hania, the docudrama film follows the story of a 6-year-old Gazan girl called Hind Rajab, who was killed by the IDF soldiers during the ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza since Oct. 7, 2023.
Hind was killed inside a car alongside her relatives after the IDF fired over 335 bullets at the vehicle while being surrounded by tanks.
