ALBAWABA - In Rashid city, a 17-year-old girl named Habiba D. has sparked widespread concern after attempting suicide due to alleged domestic abuse inflicted by her father and stepmother.

Social media has been abuzz with videos and posts detailing Habiba's ordeal, which began after she moved in with her father following her grandmother's death. Reports indicate she endured severe mistreatment in a room housing sheep, where she was allegedly deprived of adequate food and kept in dark conditions.

Neighbors reported that Habiba, previously content and helpful, faced hostility from her father's wife after she was found eating snacks from their grocery store. This led to accusations of theft and subsequent confinement in her uncle's apartment on the fourth floor, where she reportedly fell from the balcony.

Her neighbors, awakening to the incident on the fifth day of Eid, intervened to take her to Rashid General Hospital. Despite initial resistance from her father, medical examinations revealed the dire conditions she had been subjected to, including bathing on the balcony due to restricted space in her room.

Habiba is currently in intensive care, prompting urgent calls from activists and the community for justice and immediate intervention to protect vulnerable individuals from similar abuses.
