ALBAWABA - The dying moments of a Palestinian paramedic in Rafah, Gaza, immediately before he and his colleagues were killed by Israeli soldiers, have been captured in a heartbreaking video. The New York Times was able to secure the video, which shows the medic racing to save wounded close to a targeted ambulance as shooting breaks out.
The doctor could be heard begging, "Oh God, I hope they're okay," as he got closer to the car. "Hurry, hurry," was said just before a burst of gunshots broke out. His last words, stifled by fear and sorrow, were a series of petitions, an apology to his mother, and a sincere request for heavenly approval: "Pardon me, mother... I chose this route to save others… Lord, please accept me as a martyr.
Al Jazeera claims that the footage was taken from the medic's phone after his corpse was found in a mass grave alongside 13 other members of the Red Crescent and Civil Defense organizations. Israeli accusations that the emergency cars were moving suspiciously without flashing their lights are refuted by the video. The video really verifies that every emergency signal was operational.
The Palestinian Red Crescent said that Israel violated international humanitarian law by intentionally attacking its clearly identified teams, while the International Committee of the Red Cross expressed profound dismay.
Over 165,000 individuals have been murdered by Israel's military war in Gaza since October 7, 2023, including 27 emergency workers. Prime Minister Netanyahu has pledged to carry out operations with what detractors claim is U.S.-backed impunity in spite of strong international criticism.
The medic's last comments, which represent the fatal toll on Gaza's frontline rescuers and the dire humanitarian situation engulfing the area, have gone viral.
