Two doctors, two nurses and a driver working were killed in Kandahar, Afghanistan, as they returned from a visit to a village on Wednesday, apparently by Taliban fighters.
Six government troops were also killed when Taliban fighters ambushed them in the central province of Uruzgan, according to Reuters.
Also on Wednesday, rocket targeted the home of Afghanistan’s Canadian ambassador.
The attacks are thought to be spurred by the visit of U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, who was in Afghanistan for talks regarding the future of some 18,000 US troops who remain in the country.
