ALBAWABA - The Islamic Jihad Movement's military branch, the Al-Quds Brigades, published video on Thursday that showed an Israeli military vehicle being ambushed and detonated east of the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza. A military convoy was lured into a minefield as part of the operation.
The video demonstrated how anti-armor explosives, or "Thaqib," are prepared and camouflaged along the convoy's path. According to an Al-Quds Brigades field commander, the ambush was carried out in response to information of the convoy's approach close to the Civil Administration location east of Jabalia.
Before arriving at the ambush spot, the video showed close monitoring of Israeli military vehicles. It also showed the explosives going off, directly striking a burning car.
The Israeli army said Wednesday that three soldiers had been killed and three others wounded in fighting in northern Gaza. The fatalities were caused by an explosive device that targeted a tank near Beit Hanoun, according to Yedioth Ahronoth.
The explosion, which seriously damaged the tank, raised the military's death toll to 46 troops and officers since the start of the ground onslaught in northern Gaza more than three months ago, according to an initial inquiry by Israeli officials.
