A man on a motorbike lobbed a grenade at a US military vehicle injuring one American soldier in the city of Mosul, witnesses told AFP. The attack took place at 10:45 am (0645 GMT) on a street in the university district, te report said Saturday.

Meanwhile, an additional 120 British soldiers were due to arrive in Iraq from their base in Cyprus. "They will be arriving here overnight. The exact time obviously depends on the flight from Cyprus," British military spokesman Major Niall Greenwood said Saturday.

"They are going to be reinforcing the multinational force in the southeast based in Basra and they are going to be involved in a variety of tasks, all of them related to security."

The 120 extra troops will bring British troop numbers in Iraq to a total of 10,620. (Albawaba.com)
