A U.S. soldier died in a tank accident south of Baghdad on Thursday, the U.S. military announced on Friday, according to Reuters.
Elsewhere, three gunmen were killed and one was captured during an Iraqi army and intelligence raid on a farm in Safwan near the Iraqi-Kuwait border on Friday, a Defence Ministry adviser disclosed. An Iraqi soldier was also killed in this incident.
In Tokyo, Iraq's foreign minister asked Japan on Friday to extend its military mission of 600 soldiers in the southern Iraqi city of Samawah. According to the AP, the mission expires Dec. 14. Hoshya Zebari asked Japan's Defense Chief Fukushiro Nukaga to keep the troops further.
