A US-led civil protection team presented Sunday the results of an investigation into the September bombing of a village in the southern part of Sudan that apparently killed 12 civilians by accident.
The team investigated the bombardment by government forces of a village in the Eastern Equatoria province during which 12 villagers died and untold heads of cattle were slaughtered, US Colonel Paul Davenport told a press briefing, according to AFP.
However, the probe, which lasted over two months, determined that civilians had not been deliberately targeted, he added.
Results of the probe were presented to Sudanese government officials and leaders of the rebel Sudanese Popular Liberation Army (SPLA). (Albawaba.com)
