An international conference for peace in the Middle East could be held as early as July, United States congressman Darrell Issa said in Cairo on Tuesday following talks with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak.
"Later this year, actually in July or August, I think maybe August but perhaps sooner, there will be a dialogue of all the nations again," Issa, a California Republican, told reporters.
"And at this time we know where we want to end up in the final agreement but there are so many steps that need to be negotiated and consulted" before July or August, he added, according to AFP.
The Bush administration is pushing for an international conference to put an end to over 20 months of Israeli-Palestinian violence and revive moribund peace negotiations between Israel and all Arab parties. (Albawaba.com)
