LG Electronics recently invested US$100 million on HomNet’s R&D facility, and has contracted more than 50,000 homes globally. According to recent forecasts, LG Electronics' cost-effective and simpler home technology solutions are expected to experience continued growth, particularly in the HomNet segment.
HomNet or Home Network is an intelligent home appliances networking system that connects all home appliances – wired or wireless – enabling access and exchange of information via the Internet and home server. Various home appliances seamlessly communicate with each other through the network, allowing the consumer to remotely take control via the Internet and mobile devices.
“Digital lifestyle is fast becoming a reality for many people around the globe, thanks to recent advances in this field,” explained Dr. H. G. Lee, President and Chief Technology Officer of LGE Electronics, during his recent visit to the UAE.
Speaking at a press conference in Dubai, Lee pointed out that LGE’s own innovations in the home technology segment have significantly improved the lifestyles of its consumers by revolutionizing the way they listen to music, play games, watch TV or manage chores around the house.
“Companies such as LG Electronics have taken rapid strides in introducing next-generation technology systems that can provide people with more engaging and convenient lifestyle experiences. In the years to come, our continued innovation and an unprecedented market demand will see LGE demonstrating its proven capabilities in this niche sector” He said.
Launched in 2004, HomNet sees the synergies of all four LGE frontline operations – Mobile Communications, Digital Display, Digital Appliances and Digital Media. By integrating world-class solutions from the four companies, LGE has underlined its commitment to provide consumers with a complete “Connected Life” experience.
LGE has developed cutting-edge home network technology for the transmission of information through digital TV, software and networks for greater consumer convenience.
The company is now driving the development of diverse web-based digital home appliances and multimedia devices for additional Internet and networking services.
LG has already introduced internet refrigerators allowing users to shop online, make video phone calls, and watch TV broadcasts as well as DVDs. Moreover, the Internet washing machine can download pre-programmed washing schemes for different laundry loads. The company has also completed the development of Internet-accessible air conditioners and microwave ovens.
From his end, T. Y. Lee, General Manager of the LGE Amman Office, pointed out that while the company would continue to innovate, the focus would always remain on creating value for consumers. “Digital lifestyle is undoubtedly the future – as our consumers’ lifestyles become more sophisticated, so will our Home Network incorporate more highly developed and useful technologies. We see ourselves as an entity that sets the standards for high quality lifestyle, as we work to satisfy the high tech demands of the modern consumer” He said.
About LGE’s presence in Jordan, Mr. Ghazi Farouq, Assistant Managing Director at the Middle East Complex (MEC), an agent for LGE in Jordan, said “LGE continuously brings economic benefits to Jordan, since it works to bring to the Jordanian market unprecedented unsurpassed technological solutions that in turn promise to elevate the quality of life enjoyed by all members of Jordan’s community. LGE is attentive to the growing needs of the Jordanian market, and this new addition from LGE serves to solidify this fact.”
