Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE State Minister for Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the UAE Red Crescent Society (RCS) has announced that the RCS will reconstruct the Jenin camp destroyed by the Israeli occupation forces.
"The RCS has worked out a plan to reconstruct buildings and utilities destroyed, so that homeless families can return to their homes in Jenin as soon as possible."
Sheikh Hamdan added that the RCS had coordinated with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) and the Palestinian Ministry of Works to start reconstruction without delay, according to Gulf News.
Moreover, he hailed the significant role played by the Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation and Dubai Television, which organized a telethon for the Palestinians, raising over Dh135 million.
He also praised the foundation's coordination with the Emirates Media Incorporated (EMI) in its fundraising campaign.
"The two drives raised around Dh350 million," he said.
Meanwhile, Khalifa Nassir Al Suwaidi, RCS Board Chairman stated that about Dh213 million and 26 kg of gold jewelry have been raised since the launch of the RCS's campaign at the beginning of the month.
"Donations also include food, medicines and other relief assistance, which are distributed to the besieged Palestinians through the RCS offices in Palestine."
He added that donations could be made at the RCS's headquarters in Abu Dhabi and branches throughout the UAE.
Donations can also be offered to the society's representatives in shopping malls and banks nationwide and through account number 5346754 at Dubai Islamic Bank and account number 20417 at Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank. (Albawaba.com)
