The UN Commission on Human Rights has postponed until April 23 its review of the situation in Chechnya in the hope Russia and the European Union can agree a compromise that would ward off a resolution condemning Moscow for human rights violations there.
On Wednesday the 53-member Commission gave Russia and the EU until late on Friday to agree on a mutually-agreed statement.
