Business Software Alliance (BSA), the foremost organization dedicated to promoting a safe and legal digital world has lauded Arabtec Holding, a leader in the construction industry in the UAE, for their commitment to use only original software. In this regard, BSA presented Arabtec a certificate of Appreciation to recognize their contribution in boosting the campaign to protect Intellectual Property Rights (IPR).

Mr. Muttia Marwan Al Khayyat, IT Manager, Arabtec, said, “As a responsible corporate citizen, we decided to publicly pledge our commitment to protect IPR and strengthen the hand of BSA and other organizations actively engaged in the campaign against piracy. We have been meticulous in ensuring that all systems at Arabtec are installed with original software and we also seek to impress upon our employees the importance of keeping software piracy in check. We are glad to receive such recognition from Business Software Alliance and we look forward to more cooperation in the future.”

From his side, Mr. Farouk Sadek, Director of Admin & Human Resources of Arabtec expressed his pride to partner with Business Software Alliance in embracing the adherence in the campaign against piracy.

Established in 1975, Arabtec has emerged as one of the foremost players in the UAE construction scene. The company’s portfolio includes high-rise developments, hotel interiors, residential complexes, office blocks, commercial and industrial projects, major airport developments, offshore oil and gas installations, and cinemas and entertainment facilities. Arabtec boasts a large multi-national workforce in excess of 37,000.

“We commend Arabtec on the exemplary initiative it has shown in supporting the IPR campaign,” said Jawad Al Redha, Co-Chairman of BSA. “This move comes as a major fillip to BSA’s efforts in the UAE and we hope other companies follow the example set by Arabtec in pledging their commitment to the use and trade of original software.”

“BSA has been calling for determined efforts from the private sector to curb the threat of software piracy, and it is heartening that a growing number of companies are heeding our call and coming forward to support the anti-piracy campaign. There is now better appreciation of the benefits of using original software and companies are equally aware of the negative impact of software piracy, which is persuading them to adhere to IPR laws. Arabtec’s move is but a confirmation of this trend,” Al Redha concluded.
