Nearly 100 Emiratis are facing charges of trying to overthrow the state, after UAE authorities busted a network with alleged links to the Muslim Brotherhood, AP reported on Monday.
The charges on the 94 suspects come as part of a wider crackdown by the emirate's authorities on dissident groups.
Human rights organizations have complained about the move and allegations have surfaced that UAE detainees are subject to prolonged bouts of torture while in custody.
The recent arrests have also strained relations between the UAE and Egypt, where the Muslim Brotherhood, under President Mohamed Morsi, leads the country.
