Dubai police and Emirates Telecommunications Corp (Etisalat) have destroyed a website which featured photos of women said to be UAE nationals, reports said.
Police chief major general Dhahi Khalfan Tamim was quoted by Gulf News as saying that “officials are trying to identify a hacker operating abroad who obtained the pictures from e-mail attachments and posted them on the website.”
According to Tamim, the hackers were able to break through “into the e-mail of a number of women in the country. Then he put the pictures he found in their e-mail on the page of a website he created."
Women whose pictures were on the website have a right to claim financial compensation for whatever harm he caused them, he said.
However, a federal law now in its final stage of preparation is expected to be adopted within six months, he added. "Compared to other countries the rate of e-crime is very low here," he added – Albawaba.com
