Two Iraqi policemen and two looters were killed Wednesday in an exchange of fire in the Ali Baba and the 40 Thieves Square, in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad, according to a police officer.
"The looters were attempting to rob a shop and a car when the police arrived. An exchange took place killing the two policemen, one of them an officer, as well as the two looters," Ahmed Hassan said.
Two passersby were also injured in the incident.
In the meantime, US President George W. Bush defended his country's foreign policy as he tried to gain support from those who doubt his handling of the war and rebuilding of Iraq, claiming the fight is necessary to the US campaign on "terrorism."
"Our military is confronting terrorists in Iraq and Afghanistan and in other places so our people will not have to confront terrorist violence in New York or St. Louis or Los Angeles," Bush said Tuesday in St. Louis.
"Our only goal, our only option, is total victory in the war on terror," the US leader said, according to AP. "And this nation will press on to victory." (Albawaba.com)
