Turkish rescue workers on Sunday recovered the bodies of two men from the Bosphorus strait and were searching for two other missing people after a freighter collided with a Turkish motor boat overnight, the Anatolia news agency reported.
The bodies - those of a 22-year-old crew member of the Turkish boat and one of its passengers, a 21-year-old university student - were located by sonar near the wreck of the boat which sank in the collision, the report said.
Efforts were continuing to find the two missing, another crew member and a passenger, but a maritime official earlier told AFP that they had little hope of finding them alive.
The head of the coastal security and ship rescue directorate, Hucum Tulgar, had earlier asked divers to search the wreckage of the Turkish boat.
"Our rescue efforts throughout the night have not yielded anything. Most probably, the missing people were trapped on board the sinking ship," he told Anatolia. (Albawaba.com)
