Turkey will assume command of the International Peace-Keeping Force in Afghanistan when Britain’s 3-month term expires, according to French Defense Minister, Alain Richard.
The minister stated that Turkish troops would be amongst the first to be deployed to the area in the framework of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) along with British, French and German contingents, reported French news agency AFP.
Turkey is the only Muslim member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
