ALBAWABA - The Guardian reported Thursday, after examining contracting records by the Board of Peace, that the United States is planning to build a huge military base in the Gaza Strip.

The British website revealed that the American administration, headed by U.S. President Donald Trump, wants to build a 5,000-person military base in the war-torn city, spanning over 350 acres.

An informed source told the Guardian that several bidders – international construction companies with experience in war zones – have already been shown the area in a site visit where the base is expected to be placed.

The site will be used as a military operating base for a future International Stabilization Force (ISF), a multinational military force composed of pledged troops that will ensure peace in Gaza.

It is worth mentioning that the ISF is part of the newly created "Board of Peace", which will take over power from Hamas in Gaza following an agreement between Israel and Hamas last October.

The Board of Peace is chaired by Trump and led in part by his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, the Guardian added.
